EECP Therapy System is a particular line of therapeutic medical devices made by Vasomedical for delivering the treatment of External Counterpulsation Therapy. EECP is proprietary of Vasomedical Inc which is one of the prominent manufacturers for External Counterpulsation Therapy devices in the U.S.
EECP labeled External Counterpulsation Therapy devices are one line among several available for use in treating patients with symptoms from Angina and Coronary Artery Disease. EECP is an acronym that stands for “Enhanced” External Counterpulsation Therapy. EECP is a prominent brand from External Counterpulsation Therapy as Vasomedical is accredited for sponsoring more than 90% of all of the early clinical trials for External Counterpulsation Therapy.
EECP Therapy systems from Vasomedical started back in the late 1990’s with the introduction of their first device the MC-2 EECP Therapy System. Rumor has it that the MC-2 EECP Therapy System was a clone or copy of a Chinese ECP system made by a company called Vamed. The MC-2 is signature model EECP System because it was a line used in many clinical trials for Angina and lasted in production until 2002.
The MC-2 Model EECP Therapy System still remains in use today. The MC-2 unit is preferred by many medical facilities because this model unit is easy to repair and acquire parts from various vendors. The MC-3 EECP System is very simple in mechanical design as it does not operate on any software.
The next line in EECP Therapy Systems from Vasomedical was the introduction of the model TS-3. This unit is particularly historic in the U.S because this system was a big seller during the ‘boom’ of EECP System sales in the early 2000’s. The introduction of the TS-3 was revolutionary in comparison to the MC-2 model because it was the first digital model with a touch screen operating system.
The TS-3 proved to be a great seller from Vasomedical because of its incredibly reliable platform that is still running today. In fact, the TS-3 is so reliable that it hurt the growth of newer generation units because a large majority of existing Vasomedical customers with the TS-3 would refrain from investing in newer technology because the TS-3 was so reliable.
The TS-4 was introduced after the TS-3 as an enhanced version of the TS-3. Many in the industry say the TS-4 was just a lower cost version of the TS-3 because many of the mechanical features of the TS-3 treatment platform were removed while most other components remained identical. The TS-4 EECP System was not a big seller as the next generation EECP System was introduced shortly thereafter.
The Lumenair is the most recent line of EECP Therapy Systems from Vasomedical introduced in 2004. The Lumenair has had moderate success as the configuration was developed with a smaller foot print. The user-interface is not improved much from previous generations and patient often complain about the lack of adjustment on the treatment table that were available in previous generations. The Lumenair has set the bar high for creating an ECP device with a smaller footprint. This has proven convenient in many practicing environments where space is limited.
