EECP Therapy and ECP Therapy are virtually the same. EECP is registered trademark for Vasomedical to mean “Enhanced” External Counterpulsation Therapy but to speak of any significant difference in the effectiveness or treatment protocol of one versus the other would be misleading.
The only difference is the spelling of the terms which one company calls the therapy versus the others. EECP Therapy and ECP Therapy as a concept or modality is the exact same. They all inflate air in cuffs gated on the patients ECG rhythm.
In fact, the real difference between good outcomes and not so good outcomes is very dependent on other factors such as the patient physiology and the efficiency in which a technician or therapist delivers ECP or EECP treatment. There is a distinct difference in blood flow in patients with more vasculature to squeeze and those with less. There is also a large difference in blood flow to in patients that can tolerate a higher treatment pressure versus those that cannot. These variables are of far greater importance than the actual machine you are being treated on. So don’t let people tell you otherwise!!
If it is ever in question that one device is superior to the next, do not get caught up with any concern. All devices deliver effective treatment. It is factual that each EECP and ECP device have their advantages but the reality is that if therapy is delivered properly to the appropriate patient there will be great results. This is a wonderful treatment and you should not hesitate to start treatment!
