EECP Therapy in America? Or EECP Therapy in China?
There seems to be some confusion about EECP and its origin. EECP is a registered trade mark for “Enhanced” External Counterpulsation Therapy. The term “Enhanced” is commonly confused to mean a few different things.
1. “Enhanced” External Counterpulsation Therapy” or EECP Therapy is the same as External Counterpulsation Therapy or ECP Therapy in terms of the mechanism of action or the process of sequentially inflating pressures distal to proximal. “Enhanced” or EECP Therapy means it is External Counterpulsation Therapy with a Vasomedical brand EECP device.
2. “Enhanced” EECP Therapy was created by the Chinese? The answer is it was trademarked by John Hui (Chinese American) also an executive member at Vasomedical Inc. Many Chinese companies use EECP Therapy rather than ECP Therapy for marketing purposes but the two terms EECP and ECP are the same in concept
